Description: Allows Google Analytics to track clicks on links to downloadable files without having to code each specific link.
Requires at least: WordPress 2.0.2
Tested up to: WordPress 3.1
Instructions: Download and activate the plugin. The plugin options page (Google Analitics Options) will be available under Settings in the Admin panel.
Plugin options:
1. Google Analitics ID – enter your Google Analytics ID.
2. Domain – domain name for which the tracking is being configured. By default, the domain is set to the domain name of the site where the plugin is installed.
3. Include jQuery Script. The plugin uses jQuery library. If your site is already using this library, select “NO”. If your site is not using it yet – select “YES” (in this case the library will load from the plugin catalog).
4. File extensions you want to track – list of file extensions you want to track, comma-delimited. Only letters, digits and underscore and space. To track pdf files, write “pdf”.
5. Enable Plugin? turns the plugin on and off.
Important: If your Google Analytics tracking code is already in the page template, please remove it. The plugin will insert the code automatically.
FAQ: What happens if you don’t remove your Google Analytics code and install our plugin as well?
Answer: Either there will be a javascript error (the page will load fine) or the stats will be submitted twice. So we strongly recommend that you remove your Google Analytics code when you install the plugin.

Hi, I’m using your plugin, but I can’t find the results anywhere. Where do they show up in Google analytics– under what heading? I would really appreciate your reply!! Thanks.
Hi. The results are in Google analytics. On the Dashboard page, right under tha map on the right, there’s the list of most popular pages. Click to view this whole report and you’ll see your page in the results if the plugin was installed correctly and the link was clicked on. Also be sure to select the right time period for the report (by default it might not include today or yesterday). Thanks! Let me know if you have questions.
Worked perfectly on the first install. Google Analytics was reporting my PDF file downloads by the click within the hour. Thanks for the clean plugin!
I had fooled around with the basic “onclick” event code that google instructs you to insert into your buttons/links, but couldn’t get Google Analytics to find it. My WordPress theme let me deactivate its built in Analytics tracking, and I activated the tracking on this plugin instead. Started working in minutes.
I recommend it.
Ryan, thanks for the kind words! More cool stuff is coming! Planning to publish new references plugin some time soon. Allows to automatically insert references into text. The plugins figures out the numbering, anchor links and the rest on its own.
Hi, just about to pull the trigger on your plugin (which looks great) – just need to know if works alongside the Google Analyticsplugin (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/googleanalytics/) in terms of conflicts with two instances of the GA code possibly being duplicated. Cheers.
Hi, it would be best if you remove the tracking code if it’s already on the page. otherwise there might be a js error or the data will get submitted to analytics twice. I think it’s best to deactivate the current plugin you’re using. we also have this in our FAQs on the plugin page: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/workbox-google-analytics/faq/
Thanks for getting back to me. That’s a shame as the GA plugin mentioned previously has functionality that isn’t present in your plugin such as the ability to turn off tracking for priority roles, the admin area etc. If the two worked in harmony that would be ideal! Good work tho

In the WordPress.org page, it says: This plugin hasn’t been updated in over 2 years. It may no longer be maintained or supported and may have compatibility issues when used with more recent versions of WordPress.
Is it still working? Do you plan to update it? Thanks for your help.
